The product safety information your listings need, in every EU language

Since 13 December 2024, every online offer of a consumer product in the EU must show who makes it, how to identify it and its safety warnings. Fill in the form once and copy the text in the languages of the countries where you sell.

    What the law asks

    • The General Product Safety Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2023/988, applies from 13 December 2024 to consumer products sold in the EU, including by sellers based outside the EU.
    • Every online offer must clearly show the name and the postal and electronic address of the manufacturer, and the responsible person in the EU when the manufacturer is based outside the EU.
    • The offer must also show information to identify the product, including a picture, its type and any other identifier, plus its warnings and safety information.
    • Warnings and safety information must be in a language that consumers easily understand, as decided by each country where the product is sold.
    • Toys, cosmetics, electrical goods and other products with their own rules also need the exact warnings those rules require.

    How it works

    1. Fill in the manufacturer, the product and the warnings.
    2. Choose the languages of the countries where you sell.
    3. Copy each block into the product safety fields of your shop or marketplace, such as Etsy, eBay or Amazon.

    Questions

Do I need a responsible person in the EU?

Only if the manufacturer is based outside the EU. In that case the responsible person must be established in the EU, and their name and addresses must appear in the offer.

Do you store what I type?

No. Cautio runs entirely in your browser: nothing you type reaches our server.

    Can I trust the translations?

The labels follow the terms of the regulation, and the common warnings were prepared with care with the help of an artificial intelligence assistant. Irish and Maltese are not needed: English is an official language in Ireland and Malta. For products with their own rules, use the exact warnings those rules require.
